All-Day Sideboard

BIG NOTE:  All food planned has been designed to be very agreeable to the average scadian palette.  What does this mean?  It means that no one is going to make you eat raw fish.  If you've never had Japanese food before, this is a great place to start.  In other words, when your average Samurai Joe was looking for a bit of familiar, tasty comfort food, he would eat the things below.

Rowena and Sturrhim Caithness will be presenting an all-day sideboard of Japanese and Asian delights this year in lieu of a feast.  Foods will be styled after those of a Japanese street fair and served in three 2-hour removes throughout the day.

The Caithness Sisters strive to provide the highest in quality and taste, therefore, this menu is subject to slight changes depending on ingredient availabilty..

Removes:
  • 11 am -1 pm:   Japanese breakfasty foods with miso soup, omelette roll, rice, pickles and more!
  • 2 pm - 4 pm:     Festival food: rice balls, shrimpy things, soba (noodles), pickles, soup and more!
  • 4:30 - 5 pm,  continues for an hour after Courts.: Portugese influenced food (know your Japanese history!); beef on a stick, soup, pickles, tea, tempura (deep fried) tofu and more!

with the braids once you've made them?" The 'shige uchi' braid is
commonly used for sword bindings called 'sageo', as well as hanging
cords for calligraphy scrolls. Learn this handy 9-strand flat braid
on the traditional 'marudai' braiding stand."
