Date's Tate Project.
This simple tate was made from two 12x52" pieces of 1/2" pine, and braces made from 1 3/4" square pine. The pivot was made with a 3/4" dia. piece of bamboo fit into two semi-circular brackets. Wood glue and 1 1/2" wood screws were used for the construction.

Regular household bleach was used to pre-weather the surfaces, red paint for the stripes, and then a coating of polyeurethane over everything to weatherproof it finished it off.

Overall cost: $12.00

I plan to use this tate around camp for a table, to protect me from stray arrows when I am shooting, and for shade on the Pennsic battlefield sidelines.

We are also making one for Saiaiko and several for combat archery.
