Date Genshiro Toshinobu

Raised in the small town of Agematsu, in the Ina valley of Shinano Province, Date no Genshiro Toshinobu was born into a minor samurai family serving the Murakami Daimyo. After the battle of Sezawa in 1542, he joined his family in serving the Takeda Clan. Serving in his first battle at Kawanakajima at the age of 14, he rose from spearman to hatamoto during his long career with his lord Ogami Akira. Retiring from the world after the Winter Siege of Osaka-jo he became a Buddhist priest living in a simple hut near Matsumoto Castle. During his sojourn in the Occident he has resided in many lands. Beginning in the East Kingdom’s Shire of the Northern Outpost he helped build the first towers rising from the trees. Moving briefly to CAID he then transferred to the West Kingdom serving the Palatine Barony of Far West as fencing marshal, assistant Knight’s Marshal, Chirugeon, and lastly Palatine Baron by Right of Arms in AS XXXII. During his reign he was honored to host a Royal Progress, the first for over 6 years. Transferred to the Middle Kingdom he settled in the Shire of Ravenslake. Serving as Arts and Sciences minister, Chirugeon, and Fencing Marshal he taught at the Kingdom Rapier Academy and autocrat of several events. |

Following the currents of the Tao he moved to Atlantia, washing up in the Barony of Marinus. Leaving his household on the shore he traveled the seas on campaign in service of Samuel, his western Uncle. After returning from the sea his household has moved, returning to Aethelmaerc, and the service of his Knight, Baron Sir Master Ogami Akira, etc. Toshinobu received his Award of Arms, Queens’ Order of Courtesy, Blue cord from the East Kingdom fencing Guild, and is a Companion of the Leaping Dolphin. Toshinobu researches Japanese and Chinese military strategy, architecture and history. He is also apprenticed to Master Edward of Effingham, OL, OP for studies in armoring. Kwannon has favored him with many gifts, chief among them are the love of his Lady and two incredible children. |
