Exquisite Ensemble Augments Elevation

Long acknowledged creators of sumptuous and authentically-recreated medieval Japanese garb, Lord Ishiyama Gen’tarou Yori’ie and Lady Hara created a Momoyama period ensemble for Mistress Roxanne de St. Luc’s elevation that would have shamed Oda Nobunaga’s sister, Oichi, even at the height of her opulence.

The three-layered outfit consisted of a green dragonfly patterned kosode under a white-on-white silk jacquard kosode.  These layers were in turn highlighted by the addition of a heavy silk brocade uchikake in teal and gold.

The star of the show, however, was a padded uwagi in purple featuring a laurel wreath in an explosion of applique.  Each leaf was constructed from fabrics donated by friends and family of Mistress de St. Luc.
